Dr. Dave imagines “A New Vulgarity”: if respect, responsibility, love, honesty, liberty and work could become the culturally rebellious choices, people might embrace the very qualities public life needs. A lighter personal story begins when a young phone-store employee engages him in an informed technology conversation. Dr. Dave enjoys the exchange and states a consulting principle with characteristic directness: he has no problem with someone who lacks an answer, but he gives enormous credit to anyone willing to say “I don't know” instead of pretending. The complete Christmas show also preserves Dr. Dave's Windows experiment, holiday consumerism, browsers, privacy, Washington football, the Target breach, CryptoLocker and the approaching end of Windows XP support.
