December 8, 2012
The December 8, 2012 broadcast balances practical compassion, technology philosophy and the brothers' holiday humor. Using an anonymous client who moved from Windows XP to both a Mac and Windows 8, Dr. Dave explains that unfamiliar technology does not make a person stupid and urges people to give themselves room to learn. He later asks what computers are actually helping people accomplish and criticizes designs that turn powerful work tools into little more than entertainment devices. Near the close, he poses a still-relevant resilience question: if the Internet disappeared for a week, would a person or business still have the contacts and information needed to function? Dr. Dave blasting Burl Ives beside drivers listening to 50 Cent and the brothers' disbelief at thousand-dollar car bows capture the lighter side of the show.
