Dr. Dave opens Memorial Day weekend by honoring those who died in service and extending his thanks to living veterans, saying his appreciation has deepened with age and study. At home, he and his two boys watch a program about overlooked Black founders while Gina works, and later he describes scanned, annotated old books as one of the internet’s true miracles because they bring original history to ordinary readers. Several passages capture his professional judgment: decide whether the task is to understand a failure or simply restore productivity, stay calm when a hard problem becomes maddening, and do not sell a caller an immediate service visit when a careful middle course is enough. The show also includes regular caller DJ Fresh, the brothers’ first week with their Palm Pre Plus phones, the X-51A WaveRider and a reflection on the role of emotion and competition in technology.
