April 25, 2009

The April 25 show captures Dr. Dave trying to match technology to how people actually live. He argues that buyers need room for the uses they have not imagined yet, praises simple software over gadgets and bloat, and says the technology world too often treats technology as the answer to every problem. A look back at Webvan lets the brothers laugh about all the small judgments hidden inside choosing groceries, while the Kindle prompts a playful debate over electronic and physical reading. Dr. Dave also explains why he keeps internet and telephone service independent: convenience and savings matter, but not enough to put every essential function in one basket.
