April 11, 2009

The April 11 show opens personally, with Evil Steve discussing his recovery from shingles and the brothers remembering the shock of seeing snow in Tucson on Easter morning in 1999. Hail later roars outside the studio as Dr. Dave offers one of his clearest descriptions of expertise: not brilliance, but enough mistakes to know that technology changes too quickly for anyone to assume they know everything. A caller asking about emergency power to restrict internet traffic brings out Dr. Dave's political consistency test, saying he must judge the authority the same way whether the president is someone he likes or dislikes. The show also includes Dr. Dave identifying with Bernie Mac and Gran Torino, deliberately stress-testing Windows 7, openly following up on a question he could not answer and laughing over a Google mapping car whose camera reportedly struck a low bridge.
