November 22, 2008
The November 22 show captures both the mechanics and the meaning of Dr. Dave and Evil Steve's work. Evil Steve explains how he compiled and uploaded the radio archive, then he and Dr. Dave trade family jokes before Dr. Dave heads out to announce races at Tucson Raceway Park. Dr. Dave remembers refusing to get off his bicycle during El Tour de Tucson and, ahead of Thanksgiving, says he is grateful for his family, wife, friends and listeners. Technical and public questions become broader principles: simple security measures can still be hard to enforce across millions of devices; experiments should begin with a safe path back; products such as the Chevy Volt may matter as intermediate steps even before they are ideal; and a confusing Vista label leads Dr. Dave to describe his role as teaching and researching so technology becomes a positive rather than an expensive burden. The brothers again ask listeners to support the Salvation Army, and close with a philosophy that expecting difficult things makes failures manageable and successes joyful.
