June 30, 2007

Broadcast immediately after the first iPhone went on sale, the show opens its phone coverage with a comic fakeout: Dr. Dave and Evil Steve describe the long-awaited device and then reveal the Samsung Upstage. Their longer response to the launch is more reflective than celebratory. Dr. Dave praises Apple's extraordinary command of design, interface and marketing while insisting that enthusiasm should remain rational and that technology should not be allowed to run a person's life. Elsewhere, the brothers use a small act of consideration from Raj and Pravina at their UPS Store to explain why people return to kind businesses that provide good service, and a beginner caller reminds Dr. Dave that teaching well sometimes requires an expert to step back and explain the fundamentals again.
