After visiting Tucson’s Franklin Museum, Dr. Dave explains that constant immersion in high technology makes him appreciate the different physical interfaces of old cars and fountain pens, then promotes a benefit where he and Evil Steve will meet listeners. A caller’s foil-wrapped bricks become both an effective laptop stand and a comic design statement, while Dr. Dave draws durable consulting lessons from intermittent failures, unnecessary resident software and the bottomless pit of upgrading an old computer one component at a time. The election discussion preserves the brothers’ memory of turning one night of 2000 coverage into thirty-seven days of a radio program they named History on Hold, without repeating the electronic-voting clip already selected from another show. Elsewhere Dr. Dave argues that struggling teams deserve loyalty, asks whether conscience belongs in corporate decisions, predicts phones will absorb music players and compares Apple’s emotional appeal to owning an exotic car despite practical compromises.
