November 12, 2005
On the weekend after Veterans Day, Dr. Dave and Evil Steve thank service members and reflect that free institutions take time to build and remain unfinished work. A restaurant website leak gives Dr. Dave a lasting security lesson: an unpublished address is not protection, and private information belongs behind real authentication and a database. Caller Rudy returns after promised instructions never arrived, and Dr. Dave immediately accepts responsibility, finds the message and promises to resend it during the next break. The show also debates whether a technology provider should be blamed for how people misuse its network and reminds a caller that troubleshooting has no universal silver bullet.
