A consulting problem leads Dr. Dave to say that technology failures are often really people failures: silicon can be straightforward compared with the carbon based conflicts around cooperation, responsibility and trust. Through PayPal errors, wireless security and Sprint Broadband, he argues that customers deserve direct answers, service is proven by how a company responds when things go wrong and a recommendation should wait for real world evidence. Personal moments include celebrating Washington’s late comeback, joking that he reads poetry, sings and dances every day and describing how young Dr. Dave's son Nick’s questions send the family to the Internet and then into broader dinner table conversations. The show also captures the coming Microsoft Office ribbon, anxiety over publishing personal finances online, the productivity paradox of entertainment devices and Palm’s historic move toward a Windows powered Treo.
