Dr. Dave criticizes technology reviews that rate nearly every product alike, saying honest reviews should plainly tell readers when something is not worth buying, and he marks a major shift as notebook sales exceed desktops for a full month. Through callers and consulting stories, he stresses patient, methodical work and says safe behavior matters as much as protective software, while recalling a computer overwhelmed after online gambling and explaining how the Internet helped people communicate after the London bombings. He also sends heartfelt wishes to Gulf Coast listeners, argues that antitrust should focus on harm to consumers, recounts Steve Jobs calling a grieving father, explains why rebates can create the wrong incentives and jokes that every show ends with the positive promise that they will return the following week.
