Russian Cyber Attacks Shut Down Georgian Websites - Security - IT Channel News by CRN and VARBusiness
Anti-Liberty Cyberwar or Coincidental Hack Attack?
It's difficult to be sure, but it appears that Russia has attacked Georgia's Internet system to prevent information about it's analog attack to flow out of that country. The timing is right, and the manner of the attack suggest that it is a coordinated professional effort that was either directly instituted by the Russian government, or at least encouraged and coordinated by it.
This is a historic event in Internet history that underscores what we all learned on 9/11. This world contains evil people that will use whatever resources are necessary to further their evil, and that we (the presumably non-evil) must be prepared to recognize that and vigorously fight it. It's not just about adware, porn and viruses anymore...
